Even by following a diet and doing physical activity the numbers may not decrease; Find out what might be stopping you from losing weight
Strictly follow your diet, exercise regularly, but to no avail: despite all your efforts, you find it very difficult to lose weight. If this is the case for you, perhaps it’s time to analyze your entire routine and identify habits that may be preventing you from reaching your goal.
According to Dr. Renato Lobo, doctor at USP (University of São Paulo) and nutritionist at ABRAN (Brazilian Association of Nutrology), some simple habits, which may go unnoticed, end up making weight loss difficult. The doctor points out 5 errors that hinder the goals of those who want to lose weight. Watch:
1 – Sleep little
“Those who sleep little or sleep poorly release more hunger hormone and less satiety hormone. So you will be hungrier, you will eat more and you will not be full. So sleeping poorly has a direct relationship with weight gain. If you want to lose weight you need to sleep better”, says the expert.
2 – Eat close to bedtime
The distance between the last meal and sleep has a direct effect on weight loss, explains the expert. If you eat at 11pm and go to sleep at midnight, for example, this is already a factor that favors weight gain.
But if you eat dinner at 6 or 7 pm and go to sleep at 11 pm, you tend to be thinner. “Therefore, the further away you eat from where you sleep, the better,” he says.
3 – Not being physically active
If you do no physical activity, whether weight training or aerobics, and spend more time sitting than standing, there is a relationship with weight loss. If you already work sitting down, for example, it’s always a good idea to stand up a little.
“It is important to get up and walk, even if it means going to the bathroom. At lunch, for example, instead of ordering food, prefer to go there, because this will activate the metabolism and promote weight loss”, underlines the expert.
4 – Not having adequate food choices
If you don’t eat salads, legumes, vegetables, greens and leaves, you won’t benefit from the fibers useful for regulating the intestine, improving the health of intestinal bacteria and hindering the absorption of carbohydrates and fats.
This is because fiber slows down absorption. “This reduces the production of insulin, which is responsible for storing excess calories as fat. So, eating salad first and foremost has a relationship with weight loss,” says the doctor.
5 – Eating too many sweets
Everyone already knows that sweets contain a lot of sugar, or something that simulates the effects of excess fructose. Therefore, very rapid absorption of sugar occurs, which generates insulin spikes in the body.
According to Dr. Renato this peak interrupts fat expenditure and promotes fat accumulation. As a result, you stop losing weight and start gaining weight. It is therefore advisable to control the consumption of sweets, obviously without falling into a restrictive diet.
