Elo, a buttery yellow tone, is Impress Decor’s 2024 color of the year

The color offers comfort in uncertain times, but at the same time radiates optimism and hope

A Print Decorreference in the development and production of decorative surfaces for the panel, furniture and flooring industries, reveals the Color of the Year 2024: Elo. More than just a shade, this color, a buttery yellow, is the visual manifestation of a contemporary feeling. It embraces and welcomes, offering comfort in uncertain times, but, at the same time, radiates optimism and hope.

Walking hand in hand with the collective, Elo recognizes the importance of community and unity. However, at the same time, he respects and celebrates individuality, reflecting the duality and complexity of the era in which we live.

Over the years Impress has refined its research methods, ensuring an increasingly refined approach to the development process. His team, made up of several generations of architects and designers, brings their individual repertoires and experiences to find results with the same purpose.

“The research starts broadly, looking for inspiration in various sectors: from decoration, to jewellery, to cars, to fashion, to make-up, to behavior and well-being. The aim is to capture the zeitgeist of the moment, understanding the wider context , and then narrow it down and distill that understanding into a single color,” he explains Luiz Görgenproduct designer at Impress Decor.

In a rapidly changing world, it was noticed that collective energy was more measured and slowed down compared to last year. “People try to live with intensity, but at the same time appreciate introspective and welcoming moments. There was clearly a strong energy of nostalgia, evidenced by the return of 90s and 2000s styles in fashion,” comments Luiz.

Elo is not just a color, it is a state of mind, a symbol of the continuous search for balance between oneself and everything. “For this color we thought not only of the result as a product, but as a concept that brings more humanity to the whole. We want Elo to be a search for well-being that passes through the choice of color”, he explains Jessica Horimarketing manager at Impress Decor.
