A comprehensive, integrated look at cancer

With 12 centers of excellence in Brazil, Oncologia Americas offers a complete line of treatments for cancer patients and is present at the largest oncology congress in Latin America to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest developments in the segment.

Data from the Ministry of Health estimates that Brazil will have 704,000 cases of cancer per year by 2025. And each type of cancer requires specific treatments and care. And it is precisely to discuss the main innovations in clinical oncology that Brazilian experts and those from different countries gathered at the XXIV Brazilian Congress of Clinical Oncology, promoted by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC), in Rio de Janeiro, between 16 and November 18th. Oncology Americas, a reference in the segment in Brazil, with 12 centers of excellence spread across the country – all trained and aligned with the best and safest global medical practices in the fight against cancer -, is present at the event with specialists in different fields of activity.

With cutting-edge technology, an excellent clinical team and a complete line of care, from diagnosis to cancer treatment, Oncologia Americas has two important international certifications: QOPI ® (Quality Oncology Practice Initiative), granted by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO – American Society of Clinical Oncology), for having adopted the best international practices in cancer care, and the JCI seal, by Joint Commission International, the largest health services certification body in the world, for excellence in service and safety of oncology centers.

“There are more than 100 types of cancer and most of them can be diagnosed early. The earlier the diagnosis is made, the greater the chance of recovery and also of improving the quality of life of those facing the disease. And the question turning to a specialized center is essential at this time”, says Dr. Fernando Meton, director of Oncology of the Americas network.

And it is through this global, integrated and humanized perspective that Oncologia Americas has collaborated in the treatment path of thousands of cancer patients, every year, in different regions of Brazil. The area, characterized by high complexity, has received strong investments from the Americas network in recent years. It was approximately R$ 140 million in 2022 alone, with the inauguration of six outpatient clinics, in addition to the new antineoplastic drug infusion room at the Radium Institute of Campinas (SP), which received the equivalent of R$ 30 million R$ of the sum. Founded in 1946, the unit has a history of caring for cancer patients.

Also within São Paulo, Oncology Americas has another institution with a history of excellence in this sector of Medicine: the Mother Theodora Hospital and Maternity, which has a specialized team of clinical oncologists and hematologists and offers oncology treatments and immunobiological.

In the capital of São Paulo, the expansion of services focused on oncology recently took place at the Alvorada Moema Hospital, in the southern area, with the inauguration of the Infusion Center, also aimed at cancer patients.

Within this regional consolidation, Rio de Janeiro is an important oncology hub for the American network. With a focus on patient well-being, the Complexo Americas Cancer Center, located in the west of Rio, which includes the Samaritano Barra and Vitória hospitals, offers end-to-end care, ranging from diagnosis to all treatment modalities. with consultations, chemotherapy infusions, radiotherapy sessions and surgeries. Patients in Rio de Janeiro – where the Americas network has invested 40 million reais – can also count on specialized care and multidisciplinary teams at the new Samaritano Ipanema unit, in the southern area, and at Oncologia Americas Tijuca, located in the northern area of Rio .

In the Northeast, the strong point on this oncology front is the Santa Joana Recife Hospital, where R$6 million was invested in the first phase of the hospital’s oncology unit. In 2022, the unit began to equip itself with a complete facility for the treatment of cancer patients by opening an Oncology Center, becoming a reference in the region in the treatment of oncological diseases.

Investments in innovation, combined with a highly specialized clinical team and centers of excellence, have positioned Oncologia Americas as a reference in the segment in Brazil, offering treatments that put people at the center of care, with particular attention to experience, hospitality and also to the best outcome for patients.
