Some homes and structures have already installed Christmas decorations, but the classic date for installing the tree is still upon us.
The moment of putting up the Christmas tree is simply magical! It seems like this is where the magic and atmosphere of this celebration finally comes, doesn’t it? Therefore, many people are eager to put decorations in the house as soon as possible. But did you know that there is a “right” date to do it?
So it is! Although not everyone follows this belief, there is a traditional day for putting up the Christmas tree and all the other Christmas decorations in the house, which changes from year to year. And, in 2023, that date is December 3rd!
Don’t you understand why the date and how it changes from year to year? Look down!
Date reason for putting up the Christmas tree
The date on which to put up the Christmas tree is not the same every year because the idea is that it is always lit first Sunday of Advent. To know when, just think that Advent begins four weeks before Christmas and do the math. And, this year, all this makes December 3rd the chosen one!
However, since it is a religious date, many families end up choosing another day where they don’t have the same beliefs, but still celebrate Christmas. Many families also change this date to put up the decorations on a day when everyone is home and can participate in preparing the Christmas tree.
Furthermore, the traditional date is not the same in all countries. In Portugal, for example, it always falls on December 8, while in the United States it occurs immediately after Thanksgiving, always in November.
So it’s worth doing what’s right for you, but if you want to follow the Brazilian tradition, it’s December 3rd!
