TasteAtlas, a website known as the encyclopedia of gastronomy, has listed the 10 worst Brazilian foods. Do you agree?
OR GustoAtlante is a website widely recognized for creating various rankings related to culinary dishes from around the world. On several occasions he highlighted some Brazilian dishes among the best in the world, as in the case of the Brazilian picanha, elected second best typical dish in the world. However, in its latest version, the site presented a somewhat controversial list: 10 Worst Brazilian Foods.
To compile this list, TasteAtlas used more than 4,900 reviews available on its site, written by foreigners and Brazilians. And what hurts most about this classification is that many of the foods mentioned could be on your favorites list.
The first position is occupied by one of the most controversial dishes in our country, making the list an experience that will surely arouse various types of reactions (including indignation).
Delicacies popular abroad that are “disgusting” in Brazil
It’s worth checking the full ranking and expressing your anger if your favorite dish is in the middle.
10. Casadinhos (rating: 3.6)
These baked and filled biscuits, usually with dulce de leche or guava paste, apparently did not captivate the taste buds of all evaluators. Typical of weddings or bars, casadinhos, with a score of 3.6 out of 5, are among the 10 least rated dishes on the site.

9. Mocotó (rating: 3.6)
Mocotó, popular among Brazilians, did not receive much praise from evaluators. This stew, made with cow’s feet, beans and vegetables, is an economical option in Brazilian cuisine. Initially prepared by slaves, today it can be found in several Brazilian cuisine restaurants, including the award-winning restaurant of the same name managed by chef Rodrigo Oliveira.

8. Mayonnaise salad (score: 3.6)
Easily found in any Brazilian self-service dish or even alongside the classic churrasquinho, salad with mayonnaise is a common presence in Brazilian dishes. Despite this, it was not well received by the majority of voters.
Made with potatoes, carrots, peas, corn, apples and mayonnaise, it also often contains raisins, which may have been one reason it was so poorly rated.

7. Chicken sausage (score: 3.6)
Another classic of Brazilian cuisine that also contains the controversial ingredient: raisins. Is it a coincidence?
Salpicão is basically a chicken salad with variations. It is sometimes topped with straw potatoes, a hallmark of Brazilian cuisine. This dish is quite popular at Christmas parties and in self-service restaurants throughout the year.

6. Sequilhos (rating: 3.6)
Snacks are proof that something simple can be delicious. Although many agree with this sentence, the dessert also ended up on the list of the worst Brazilian foods.
Made with corn starch or cassava starch, sequilhos are widely consumed in afternoon cafes and also at wedding and graduation parties.

5. Maria Talpa (rating: 3.5)
From the name you can already understand the consistency of Maria Mole, a soft dessert much appreciated at festivals in June. Made only with sugar, gelatin, coconut and egg white, the ready-made dessert can be found in pastry shops all year round and is an undeniable success among Brazilians.

4. Quibebe (rating: 3.4)
We reached our top 4 worst dishes in Brazil with Quibebe stew! Prepared with pumpkin, onion, pepper, ground ginger and coconut milk, it is traditionally served as an appetizer before the main meal.
He is not well known in all regions of the country, but he attracted attention to this controversial list.

3. Tareco (score: 3.2)
Made only with water, eggs, wheat flour and sugar, tarecos biscuits originate from the state of Pernambuco. This dish gained popularity after singer Flávio José titled one of his songs Tareco and Mariola.
It has a disc shape and is also loved by many Brazilians!

2. Rice with pequi (grade: 3.1)
Quite traditional in the state of Goiás, rice with pequi is known for its amazing flavor. In addition to the pequi, the rice is seasoned with other ingredients that help give the dish a unique flavor.

1. Couscous Paulista (score: 3.1)
Cuscuz Paulista received the worst reviews on TasteAtlas. Made with cornmeal, olives, hard-boiled eggs, canned fish and peas, this traditional dish dates back to the 19th century and is typically served in the form of a pudding.
Sao Paulo couscous is much criticized by inhabitants of other regions of the country, who consider this type of couscous an affront to the original couscous, which is much simpler (and much tastier, according to gossips).
