The dermatologist provides Terra with the necessary treatments against the most common skin diseases and problems on the hottest days of the year
It’s not just women’s intimate health that requires care on the hottest days. Some skin diseases can be favored by high temperatures.
This is the case of:
- mycoses, which are infections resulting from the overgrowth of fungi, which also affect the nails and scalp
- geographic bug, a type of lesion that appears following contact with a parasite present in the feces of dogs and cats;
- miliaria or prickly heat, more common in children who do not have fully formed sweat glands;
- phytophotodermatosis, a type of burns that result from contact with substances found in foods such as lemon, figs, mandarins and other citrus fruits, followed by exposure to the sun;
- burns, frequent in summer due to greater exposure to the sun;
- and the worsening of previous lesions, such as melasma and freckles, also due to greater solar radiation.
The recommendations come from dermatologist Trícia Simões, member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD) and partner of Duoderma – Clínica Dermatológica e Aesthetics.
According to her, measures must be taken to avoid the occurrence of these problems, such as avoiding excessive exposure to the sun, not wearing damp clothes for long periods, washing and drying body folds well, hydrating enough, keeping the body ventilated, using physical barriers , such as hats, caps and glasses, and apply sunscreen daily.
“Remembering that intense sun exposure is the main factor in the onset of skin cancer, therefore exposure should always be moderate and with a lot of protection”, underlines Trícia in an interview with Earth.
“In cases of lesions such as ringworm, geographic bug and burns, a medical evaluation is also important, as infections are treated with antibiotics,” he adds. Soothing and healing creams are also used to treat burns.
