A Rio paradise with an unbeatable location: Barra da Tijuca beach on one side and Marapendi Lagoon on the other; and has the possibility of daytime use
The Grand Hyatt Barra da Tijuca resort is a destination in itself. While in the south of Rio the choice of accommodation takes into account the proximity to the attractions or the convenience of the surrounding services, at the Hyatt the eyes of those who stay are not exactly postcard-like. Or at least not for the more obvious ones.
The Grand Hyatt is located at the end of Barra da Tijuca, almost in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes, and from there the guest is more likely to want to take a trip to the beautiful and deserted Macumba Beach (20 minutes from the hotel), in the fantastic SÃtio Roberto Burle Marx (30 minutes) or go to the restaurants of Barra de Guaratiba (40 minutes). Or maybe you don’t even want to leave the hotel, which is not a problem at all.

The Hyatt offers another Rio de Janeiro, less crowded and quieter. And for this reason it defines itself as an urban resort, a place where you can check in and leave only when it’s time to leave. The landscape is unbeatable: the sea on one side and the Marapendi lagoon on the other. The Hyatt is perhaps the only hotel in Rio where guests wouldn’t have to worry about turning their backs on the sea. In fact, it is better to invest in a suite with a view of what some guests have already defined as the “small wetland”. To get the best of the sea and lagoon, the Grand Suite Ocean Lagoon features an “L”-shaped balcony that offers both scenarios on a plate: there’s no Arpoador that can compete with a late afternoon there.
And speaking of rooms, the project took advantage of the location and the 436 units are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows. The interior is clean, modern, welcoming, with wood in the finishes and soft tones in the furnishings. Indirect light accompanies.

And since this is a resort, the menu of activities is extensive. Yoga, functional training, tai chi chuan, volleyball and stretching can take place on the beach or deck. You can also take a boat trip around the lagoon and, if you’re lucky, spot alligators. Or maybe take a behind-the-scenes tour of the hotel or a beer tasting. The guest receives a menu with the activities that will take place each day of the week. But it doesn’t hurt to remember that it is highly advisable to spend a few hours doing absolutely nothing on a lounger next to the heated pool. Children have a miniclub just for them.
As for gastronomy, the resort has a Japanese restaurant (Shiso), a Rio-inspired gastro lounge (Cantô) and a space for breakfasts and events (Tano).

Hyatt also offers day use, which is a great option for both locals and those staying at other hotels or Airbnbs. You pay from R$198 on weekdays and are entitled to use the heated pool, changing rooms, saunas and even get a 20% discount on treatments at the Atiaia spa. And speaking of spa, there are nine rooms and an extensive menu of therapies. Suggestion? Atiaia Signature, which combines Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage, acupressure and aromatherapy. Oh, your pet weighing up to 20 kg is welcome in the hotel.
NEW YEAR’S PARTY
For the end of the year, Hyatt has prepared 5 special evenings: feijoada on the 23rd and 30th; Christmas dinner on the 24th with the presence of Santa Claus; and two New Year’s Eve parties on the 31st: one at the Cantô restaurant and the other at the Grand Balroom, complete with DJ and band.
