Sausage roll recipe

Time: 1h (+1h rest)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablets of organic fresh yeast (30g)
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 cups milk (tea)
  • 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • Wheat flour for dusting
  • 20 sausages cut into 3 parts
  • Margarine for greasing
  • 1 egg for brushing

Preparation method:

  1. Mix the yeast, salt and sugar in a bowl until dissolved.
  2. Add the milk, potatoes, butter and egg and mix.
  3. Add the wheat flour, little at a time, kneading until it forms a smooth and soft dough. If necessary, add more flour.
  4. Cover with a cloth and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a smooth, floured surface until it is thin and cut it into small rectangles.
  6. Place a piece of sausage on each rectangle and roll it up, forming rolls.
  7. Arrange in a large greased pan, side by side.
  8. Cover and let rest for another 30 minutes.
  9. Brush with egg and bake in a preheated medium oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool, transfer to a serving plate and serve the sausage roll.
