My 15 year old son’s penis is not developing; it’s normal?

The boy doesn’t want to go to the urologist and the parents fear that something is wrong

Doctor, I have a 15 year old son and I realize that since he was 10 his penis has not developed. When he is soft, he looks like that of a child under 10 years old. I tried to talk to him about going to the urologist, but he doesn’t want to. What can it be? Is there still a cure?

First of all, it is important to remember that boys’ penises can develop at different ages, depending on when they began the process of bodily changes, i.e. puberty.

In other words: If it started a little later, the development of the penis could also take place a little later.

It is also important to remember the following: penis size outside of erection is not a parameter, as some men notice a very large change in penis size during and outside of erection. So, if the penis is too small outside of the erection, this is not a cause for concern.

The most important thing is to see if the rest of his physical development is normal and if he is going through all the transformations expected for this moment of his life, adolescence.

If you have any questions, and he is embarrassed to go to the urologist, you can suddenly go to the pediatrician, or to an ebiatrist (pediatrician specializing in adolescence), or even to a general practitioner to talk. And you can always argue that it is important for every man, even boys, to undergo periodic check-ups with a doctor to find out how their health is going.
