When undergoing circumcision surgery, i.e. phimosis surgery, the doctor recommends avoiding masturbation during the first few weeks so as not to have an erect penis. Since there is an ongoing healing process, the stitches may eventually rupture.
But there is no way to control spontaneous erections. In general, during the night you have three or four erections without even realizing it, and in the morning you wake up with an erection. There’s no way to control it, it’s part of your physiological process.
Now, what can be avoided is masturbation, since, in addition to erection, it involves friction with the hand and this can facilitate rupture of the stitches.
In short, there is nothing you can do about spontaneous erections. Wait a few weeks and do not masturbate, as directed by your doctor.
