YES FRANCISCO RIVER

Once a non-navigable and difficult to access area, these immense and narrow corridors of sculpted rocks on the São Francisco River emerged in 1995 with the construction of the Xingó hydroelectric dam, considered one of the largest in Brazil.

These dammed waters gave rise to the Xingó Canyon, located in a valley 65 km long and with an average depth of 150 meters, where it is possible to sail aboard catamarans, take excursions on small boats that cross the narrow corridors of the canyon and also practice Stand Up Paddling.

Almost 200 km from the capital Sergipe, the attraction is accessible from the municipalities of Canindé de São Francisco (SE) or Piranhas (AL).

ARARUNA

165 km from João Pessoa, this municipality bordering Rio Grande do Norte has made its rocky surroundings the scene of adventure activities.

One of the new features is the Rhinoceros Park, a welcoming adventure complex for those who have no experience with activities of this type.

In an area of approximately two thousand square meters, the circuit begins with a mini via ferrata and continues with abseiling and climbing on small granite walls. The experience also includes a three-rope bridge and even an unusual surf on that stone world.

Another highlight of the destination is the human pendulum at the mouth of a rock, more than 300 meters high, it’s easy.

After tackling a steep path 600 meters long and with notable differences in altitude, the visitor arrives at Pedra da Boca, a natural formation in the Pedra da Boca State Park, on the border with the Rio Grande do Norte.

It’s like swinging with your head in Paraíba and your feet in Rio Grande do Norte, hoisted by a four-point anchor system that launches the tourist tied to a 30-meter long rope.

Zé dos Montes Castle

CASTELO ZÉ DOS MONTES

It all began in his childhood, when José Antônio Barreto had a vision in which a lady asked him to build seven churches, in different places.

Since that image appeared to him in 1941, there were 12 other apparitions until, now an adult, Barreto finally found the right address to build his church/castle.

Not completed, this work with surrealist contours can only be visited on weekends, in the Serra do Tapuia, in Sítio Novo, 120 km from Natal (RN), whose environments host rock halls and stone altars.

But the highlight is the curious labyrinth made of earth that represents the Via Crucis.
