The woman was bleeding and her water had already broken, but she was advised to go home because she was not sufficiently dilated.
Little Isabelly Martins da Silva’s room is all set up, with the wall painted yellow and pink decorative paintings. Unfortunately, the girl won’t be able to meet him, and her parents continue to wonder why she does. Isabelly died while still in her mother’s womb last Sunday, the 10th, after three family trips to the hospital, while the woman was already in labor. The case occurred in the city of Senador Canedo, in the metropolitan region of Goiânia. The parents have opened a police report about what happened.
According to father Rafael Martins, 30, his wife, Ana Beatriz Nunes, 23, went into labor early Sunday morning. “At 6am she broke the tampon along with the bleeding. We immediately rushed to the maternity ward, arriving there around 7:00, 7:30 in the morning,” she says. Earth.
During the first trip to Aristina Cândida Municipal Maternity Hospital, the doctor assessed the extent of Ana Beatriz’s dilation, which was still 3 cm. She said the woman needed to be at least 5cm dilated to be admitted to the health unit and asked the couple to go home.
As soon as they arrived home, Ana Beatriz went to the bathroom and discovered that she had started bleeding again. “This time it was stronger. I immediately grabbed my phone, took the photo and we went back to the maternity ward. We arrived around 9 or 10 in the morning. And then, again, the screening procedure,” recalls the husband.
The situation repeated itself. The two faced the same wait as before, they heard from the doctor that the dilation was not yet sufficient and they returned home. First Ana Beatriz was treated so that the pain she felt decreased. She went home, she had more bleeding and the two returned to the hospital in the early afternoon.
That time a test was carried out to measure the child’s heartbeat, which scared the father. “My daughter’s heart rate was 168, 170. There was a time when it reached 180, you know? Very fast. I had never seen my little girl’s heart at that rate,” she says, saying she monitored carefully throughout the pregnancy. of his wife. The doctor, however, explained that that frequency was normal.
The couple was told to go home one more time and return in about 3 hours to begin labor. Already anesthetized and pain-free, Ana Beatriz returned to the maternity ward accompanied by Rafael around 5pm. Immediately, the first procedure performed by the doctor was to try to listen to the baby’s heartbeat, which was not making any sound.
No justification
Rafael says they took Ana Beatriz for an ultrasound and there they confirmed that the baby was no longer alive. He complains that he was not given any explanation as to the cause of her death, nor that the news of her death came from the doctor who assisted him throughout the trial.
“She refused to talk to me, she wouldn’t talk to me, she didn’t give me any explanation of what could have happened. At no point did they refuse us service. But they didn’t provide the necessary help that she needed, because she was already in labor, her placenta was already ruptured, she was already losing blood, which is not normal, and yet they were pushing with their belly,” she complains.
The father went to the police station this Tuesday, the 12th, to file a complaint about the situation. In a statement, the Civil Police of Goiás reported that the Senador Canedo Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station is investigating the incident.
“All appropriate initiatives are being taken, with the hearing of all those involved and the request for appropriate expert reports to precisely ascertain the circumstances of the facts and those responsible. The proceedings will be concluded and transmitted to the Judiciary as soon as the investigations are concluded” . concluded, with all the hearings and assessments”, we read in the text.
Rafael also says that he found, at the police station, another couple who said they were experiencing the same thing as him, again due to the same doctor’s mistake. “Today more people showed up at the door of the police station looking for me and there were two more people who came to me via message telling me that the same loss had happened, just a few days ago,” he says. The identity of the professional was not revealed.
