Celebrating Christmas is part of the calendar for 88% of Brazilians. And preparing dinner is the most tiring activity of the season – and yet, 78% of people usually eat at home with their family. These are the numbers from the “Christmas Dinner” study, carried out by C.Lab, Nestlé Brasil’s research laboratory, in collaboration with the Nestlé Recipes platform.
According to the survey, 79% say they don’t have a typical Christmas dish in their region. However, on Christmas Eve there are local recipes: In the North, for example, duck in tucupi, pirarucu de casaca, vatapá and cupuaçu mousse stand out.

The study also highlights that traditional dishes, for the most part, are prepared at home: 93% prepare roasts (beef, suckling pig, turkey, chester, tender) and 91% prepare desserts (pudding, mousse, pavé, delicacy).
According to the survey, 78% of people say they prepare Christmas dinner and 66% intend to prepare and/or buy different foods, taking into account the importance of different and innovative dishes, but which have an accessible price.

At the same time, the pet market has an opportunity ahead 57% of those interviewed said they buy or prepare a special food for their pet at Christmas, demonstrating current trends in the integration of pets into Brazilian families.
People from all regions of the country participated in the survey, 52% women and 48% men. 57% of those interviewed live with a partner and 48% with children.
