The Pregnant Women’s Meeting aims to train future mothers, retracing the phases of pregnancy, breastfeeding and newborn care.
The Sao Paulo Regional Hospital (HRSP) annually carries out the Meeting of pregnant women, whose primary goal is to prepare women and their families for the unique and transformative experience of motherhood. The event is organized by the hospital’s Breastfeeding Committee (CAM), which aims to provide a space for discussion, exchange of experiences and professional guidance on the main physical and behavioral changes that occur during the gestational period.
The coordinator of the CAM, nurse midwife Rosangela de Araújo Godói, underlines the importance of the participation of pregnant women in this event. “Our goal is to empower pregnant women by providing them with knowledge on various aspects related to pregnancy and postpartum. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and exchange experiences with other women who are going through the same thing and with professionals in the sector,” – explained Rosangela.
How important is the Pregnancy Meeting?
According to Rosangela, the Pregnant Women’s Meeting serves to dispel common fears and anxieties during pregnancy, providing a safe and welcoming environment in which expectant mothers can share their experiences and doubts. “We recommend that participation begins once the pregnancy is confirmed. In each edition of the meeting we discuss different topics, so the more the pregnant woman participates, the more knowledge she acquires,” she emphasizes.
What topics will be covered during the Meeting?
6 meetings have been scheduled for the year 2023, with topics ranging from the importance of prenatal care and bodily and emotional changes, to the importance of breastfeeding and newborn care. The event also features a special program during World Breastfeeding Week in August.
Is a visit to the maternity ward included in the programme?
Yes, one of the most anticipated moments of the meetings is the visit to the Maternity Unit of the Regional Hospital of São Paulo. “Regardless of the type of birth chosen, it is important that the pregnant woman familiarizes herself with the maternity environment. For this reason, at each meeting, we carry out inspections, so that women can get to know the humanized structure of the hospital, the pre-delivery room, the delivery and postpartum recovery room”, informs Rosangela.
By organizing these meetings and providing adequate knowledge and guidance to pregnant women, Hospital Regional São Paulo helps ensure a safe and welcoming environment for women during this very special moment in their lives. The Pregnant Women’s Meeting, therefore, in addition to being an excellent learning opportunity, is a manifestation of HRSP’s care and commitment to the well-being of its patients.
