The cuisine of Minas Gerais is full of tasty typical foods that will conquer anyone’s taste buds. However, some of its most famous dishes, such as dulce de leche and cornbread, are not recommended for people who are lactose intolerant, as they contain milk in their composition. Milk cream

  • 750ml milk cashew nuts
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

Preparation method

Add the milk to a saucepan and heat over medium heat, without boiling. Turn off the heat and set aside. In another pan, add the sugar and heat over medium heat until caramelized. Then add the coconut milk and mix over low heat until it thickens and reduces. Then add the salt and vanilla essence and mix well. Turn off the heat, transfer to a container and refrigerate for 3 hours. Serve immediately.

  • 2 cups of tea corn flour
  • 1 liter of water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, peeled and chopped
  • Salt to taste

Preparation method

Place the corn flour and water in a container and mix until the flour has completely dissolved. Reserve. In a pan, add the olive oil and place over medium heat to heat. Add the garlic and sauté until golden brown. Add the dissolved cornmeal and salt and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Turn off the heat and serve immediately.

  • 3 cups wheat flour
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/3 tablespoons organic yeast
  • 35 g of butter
  • 1 dessert spoon of fennel
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Butter for greasing
  • Wheat flour for dusting

Preparation method

Place all the ingredients, except the water, in a container and mix well. Gradually add the water until you obtain a smooth mixture. Then, with the help of a spoon, take some dough and form some balls. Repeat the operation with all the dough and place it on a baking tray greased with butter and floured with wheat flour. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for 40 minutes. Serve immediately.
