End of holes: 3 effective treatments against cellulite

The techniques act on the main causes of cellulite and on multiple layers to redesign the treated areas

The genetic factor is decisive for the appearance of cellulite, but the worsening of the condition is linked to lifestyle habits. “There is a treatment for this aesthetic change, but it must be started after the patient has realized the importance of changing their lifestyle, otherwise no results will be achieved”, says Cláudia Merlo, doctor specialized in Cosmetology at the BWS Institute.

And what are the new and truly effective cellulite treatments?

1. NuEra

According to dermatologist Mônica Aribi, full member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, this new product works with personalized radio frequency to act against cellulite, sagging skin and localized fat.

“This means that the doctor chooses the layer and energy individually, whether he wants to consume fat or whether he just wants to form collagen. That’s why it’s called MTS (multi-depth thermal stimulation) technology. It is extremely interesting because it can stimulate the collagen necessary to firm the skin and, at a subcutaneous level, treat localized fat by reducing its volume. This compression brings results against cellulite,” explains Mônica Aribi.

«Generally, four to six sessions are carried out, once a week or every 15 days. The session lasts 20 to 30 minutes, it doesn’t hurt, there are no problems with the sun and the results are more long-lasting”, explains the doctor, who recommends the treatment for grade 2-3 cellulite.

“We can also combine it with the collagen biostimulator and, with this, we have greater stimulation of this support protein, with good results on cellulite depressions. Another technology that can be associated is acoustic waves, which work with mechanical tissue stimulation, using radial shocks, to disrupt and destroy fat cells. They also act on skin fibrosis, treating cellulite holes, and improve circulation, helping to eliminate toxins, which brings good results against cellulite,” he says.

“The electromagnetic field for muscle contraction can also be indicated in case of muscle flaccidity in patients who usually do not do physical activity. This technology promotes deep and effective muscle contractions, reshaping the muscles,” he emphasizes.

2. Emtone + injectables

The first and only device that simultaneously provides thermal and mechanical energy, the device emits radio frequency and acts on the five main causes of cellulite, according to Cláudia Merlo.

“The radio frequency will work, firstly, to reduce fat; second, in its action on the collagen septum, reducing cellulite skin spots; thirdly, for its function in the skin, in the dermis, stimulating collagen and leaving the skin more structured, firmer and less saggy; fourth, for the benefit of circulation, decompressing the tissues and improving the patient’s fluid retention; and, finally, there is a set of metabolites and organic waste that can remain in the tissues congested and inflamed by cellulite”, explains the doctor.

The procedure is performed according to a rapid protocol, generally in four sessions once a week. «It is an important treatment, because it acts on all grades, from 1 to 4, and on all types of cellulite, from the most watery one (with greater edema) to the most compact one», he explains.

“We can also combine the injectables with slimming substances if the patient has a little more fat or, in case of sagging skin, we can also combine them with injectable and laser biostimulators,” says the doctor.

3. Morpheus + biostimulators

Dermatologist Paola Pomerantzeff explains that cellulite treatment can be carried out with the Morpheus 8 microneedling radiofrequency and, after 30 days, with the application of the Sculptra collagen biostimulator.

“For the treatment of cellulite, the radiofrequency microneedling equipment stimulates the collagen fibers to reorganize them, thus promoting adequate support of the adipose tissue, which, consequently, improves cellulite, since this change derives precisely from the lack of support of the fatty layer, which makes it irregular and gives the skin an “orange peel” appearance. After a month, the collagen biostimulator is applied, which is injected into the skin with a needle or cannula and causes an inflammatory reaction that leads to the production of new collagen fibers. It increases the thickness of old collagen fibers and stimulates the appearance of new fibers. As a result, the skin becomes firmer, more “glued” and with a better structure, correcting raised imperfections”, explains the dermatologist.

“After 40 days the patient is re-evaluated and it is possible to repeat the protocol two more times,” explains Paola.
