The fourth – and originally final – part of the Conjuring, called Hour of Judgment, became the highest-grossing film in the saga. The sequel, released in France on September 10, attracted no fewer than 2,240,859 French viewers and collected more than $487 million worldwide. All this 55 mln.
Not a sequel, but a prequel
In front of such figures, the studio could not resist the idea of continuing the history of the franchise. Media Diversity Officially announced: Warner Bros. Studios. and New Line are currently developing the project under new director Rodriguez Huarte. Important information: This will not be a sequel or a reboot, but a prequel.
Screenwriters Richard Naing and Ian B. Goldberg, the writers of the three Conjuring films and The Nun 2, are set to write the story for this new chapter.

The return of saga stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson is still unclear as much as this next film will focus on the Warren couple’s younger years. The latter film offered a real conclusion to their narrative arc. New actors may be hired in the project.
Alongside this prequel, HBO is currently developing a series set in the Conjuring universe. This project should expand the universe of the franchise without the participation of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
