The Indian spiritual leader explains how awakening to inner reality is the path to peace
Sri preethaji, an indian philosopher and transformational leader, was in sao paul to lead participants at the Field of awakening (Campo do Despertor) and took a few minutes to talk to Vida Simples. In theory, the co-founder of Ekam Unit – school of philosophy, meditation and personal transformation, located in South India – I was in a hurry, I needed to come back from break and talk for another number of hours.
However, that barefoot woman, wearing a white tunic, scarf and trousers, was the personification of calm. Indifferent to the pressure of her hands, her words floated, such was the softness of her way of expressing herself. The content, however, could not be more profound and timely.
Sri Preethaji is connected to the discoveries of neuroscience, regarding the functioning of the mind and the pursuit of a fulfilling life. And, as an inheritor of the Vedic tradition, he bridges the gap between the advances of contemporary science and ancient Hindu wisdom.
What he wants is for us to awaken to the reality within. If there is a guaranteed place for peace, says the philosopher, it is in the silence of the mind that unites with Universal Intelligence. From this connection comes a broader understanding of how we can access a state of love, vitality and abundance. And, with that, be a point of light in the planetary network.
What Vedic wisdom held millennia ago and is proven today?
Science is revealing many things related to brain. Neurobiology is discovering, for example, the pineal gland, which Hindu sages for millennia believed was the agnya chakra, a vortex of energy similar to a two-petalled lotus flower: on one side there is the Moon, the feminine, lunar energy; the other, the Sun, the masculine, solar energy. Scientists have found that this gland releases serotonin, linked to well-being, during the day, and, at night, produces melatonin, linked to sleep.
How did Hindu sages connect the pineal gland to spirituality?
They were also aware that the awakening of this chakra produces fullness or ecstasy. Scientists call it the “God particle” or DMT, produced when the pineal gland is fully activated. But Hindu teachers go further, exploring many levels of consciousness to identify dimensions of enlightenment and teaching people how to reach these places to access many different states of consciousness. Science hasn’t gotten there yet.
For profound changes to occur in our lives, what must happen at the level of consciousness?
So that a person has transformations significant, it must dissolve separation, division, suffering and conflict and awaken peace, connection and unity. When consciousness is transformed in this way, great results are achieved in life.

How can we overcome identification with behaviors that make us suffer?
The path is that of enlightenment, made up of five stages. First, be aware. For example, you know you can’t hurt someone, so you don’t. Second, realize your inner state. Then comes the transformation of the heart. Finally, the awakening of consciousness and enlightenment.
Can anyone achieve enlightenment?
Yes. Through wisdom, practices, processes, meditations and Diksha, which is the transfer of energy. When someone lives in a heightened state of consciousness and transfers divine energythis has an impact on the other’s consciousness and helps him overcome the five stages mentioned.
All of this together moves you from being in conflict, with a divided mind, to reaching a state of peace, connection and unity. In the past, to seek enlightenment, one had to retreat to the mountains. Not today. All this is taught to people who lead normal lives in the world.
How can we strengthen ourselves in the face of a gloomy scenario like the current one?
Human beings were the ones who created all these problems that we are facing in the world. They didn’t come from insects, animals, nature, or the way nature works. The human being needs to transform his consciousness, because, from the moment in which there are people who live in higher states of consciousness – therefore freer from suffering -, the world can transform.
How does the evolution of individual consciousness influence the collective one?
I will make an analogy: for a lake to freeze, one drop of water freezes, then the other and so on.
against. At this rate, it would take several winters for a lake to become completely frozen. What happens in nature is a phenomenon called transition phase.
This means that when a certain number of drops freeze, the entire lake freezes at once. The same happens with humans. As more and more people awaken their awareness, this will create a ripple effect that will impact everyone.
Can you cite a practice as an example?
Soul Synk consists of a six-step meditation. During each session you will develop a state of calm, connection and expansion of consciousness. It actually changes the state of the brain. And then, ultimately, set an intention that, when sincerely placed in a field of expanded consciousness, manifests in life. It also trains the brain to dissolve suffering.
Many people are unhappy, they feel helpless, how can they overcome this state?
People live under extreme stress because they seek external results: to be successful, to be famous, to have good relationships. As if that could bring fulfillment. Many even achieve certain results, but inside they suffer, they are empty, they feel alone. It is the inner world that needs to be cared for. You can do external things, but from a beautiful state of internal connection. You have to look and see what is happening inside you.
