In this early winter, the carpet becomes a practically necessary element for the house; learn how to choose the best option

Beautiful, welcoming and very functional, the rug is an almost indispensable element in a home, especially now that winter has arrived. Also because it is an ally when it comes to delimiting environments and makes the difference for the thermal comfort of the environment.
And, for this very reason, we always want to choose the best possible carpet option for our home, right? With that in mind, here are some tips from architects Ieda and Carina Korman to help you choose the right rug for every room in your home. Take a look below:

size and proportion
To define the best fit for a rug, it is necessary consider the furniture and objects that are or will be in the environment. “On a life, it is recommended that the mat be approximately 15 to 20 cm wider than the area it delimits. It also needs to extend 20cm into the sofa, ”says Carina.
In a dining room, Ieda and Carina recommend that the rug be at least 60cm longer than the longest side of the table top, so the chairs don’t tangle in the piece when moved.
However, even with these more general tips, the measures will always vary from case to case, see? “It is important to pay attention to and respect the design of the piece, enhancing it”, explains Ieda.
Types of carpets for every environment
Different environments require different carpets, you know? In general, spaces with a lot of movement should be given lighter weight pieces, while softer, sturdier rugs should be in places where you spend more time sitting or that require intimacy, such as bedrooms.
However, it’s worth remembering that, before choosing a furry rug, you need to think about whether anyone in the house has an allergy and might feel uncomfortable with the piece. In the case of the bathroom, a good option is the small rugs in front of the sink or shower. The kitchen does not need this type of item.

How to combine?
In addition to being functional, rugs can also help a lot in the aesthetics of the environment. So that’s always good make sure they match the rest of the decor.
Therefore, this piece is usually the last item to buy for a room, so you already know what the prints and colors of the other items and furniture in the room will be.
A very interesting option when integrating carpets into furniture is make an overlap with two pieces that fit together. “When you want an overlap of rugs, the ideal is to choose a more neutral piece, for the base, and to be daring in the rug that overlaps”, indicates Ieda.
Each case is different
Despite all these tips, the choice of a carpet must always take into account the environment in which it will be placed and the habits and routines of those who live there.
Thus, a house with pets or children, for example, requires a more durable and easier to clean piece. A beach house, on the other hand, does not need wool or furry clothes. “In this case it is better to opt for natural fibers, nautical rope or cotton, for example,” says Ieda.
