Singer Preta Gil enlisted the help of an ileostomy bag during her recovery after having a tumor removed from her rectum
The singer and entrepreneur Preta Gil, 49 years old, is not afraid to show her body and the details that compose it, even if, shared by many other people, they are generally not seen in photos on social media. This is the case of the scar in the belly area, created after the removal of the ileostomy bag.
The ileostomy bag was Preta Gil’s ally
In early 2023, Preta Gil was diagnosed with intestinal adenocarcinoma, characterized as colorectal cancer. She spent a year in treatment, undergoing radiotherapy sessions and eventually underwent surgery to remove a tumor in the rectal region.
The surgery was successful, but to ensure that the portion of the body healed perfectly, an ileostomy bag had to be inserted into the intestine. Over the three-month period, the pouch helped eliminate the singer’s feces, without the need for the excrement to pass through the rectum.
Visible scar
After a quarter, more precisely in December 2023, Preta Gil underwent surgery to reconstruct her intestinal tract and reverse the ileostomy. The procedure marked the end of the artist’s treatment for colorectal cancer. Proud of her process, she has no taboos in showing the marks the treatment has left on her body.
On her official Instagram profile, Preta Gil, who enjoyed the sunny days in Bahia, Salvador, shared some images in a bikini. In them we can see the mark left by her ileostomy bag, right next to her belly button. In the image of her you can also see the scar from her catheter, just above her chest.
In the caption of the share, Preta Gil wrote to her more than 11 million followers. “I’m starting to say goodbye to this apotheotic summer that I experienced in Salvador! A swim in this sea to take away the flu”, he said. The singer had to postpone a performance due to the aforementioned flu.
