A well-known dog trainer says that certain behaviors in your pets may indicate that you have a dog that isn’t right for you.

How to understand that you should not have a dog of this breed: a star trainer and veterinarian explains

Sam Hawk is a certified professional trainer and TikTok sensation. In an interview with The Sun, he warns breeders that dogs can start to behave strangely if owners don’t meet the needs inherent in pets. This is what you need to pay attention to!

Dogs need work too

“If you are a family, you should avoid stronger purebred dogs,” says the trainer who raised Lady Gaga’s dogs. He explains that German Shepherds, Malinois and other herding breeds were specially bred to perform specific tasks. Therefore, choosing them for their cute appearance and knowing that the dog will mostly stay at home while everyone else is working, studying or traveling is a bad option for the pet. Lack of activity destroys these dogs.

Disobedience is a sign of trouble

If these puppies are not stimulated by activities that utilize their skills or talents, they will find any way to deplete their energy. More often than not, this leads to disobedience or even uncontrollable behavior.

“They’re stuck at home and they build up this energy and they think, ‘I have to do something because I’m bored,'” Hoke says. “And then they’ll start chewing your furniture, barking at anything that moves, and chasing your kids.”

Although working dogs are more demanding than others, Hawk said they make excellent companions for those who want to work with them.

Hock advises people with major responsibilities, like children or demanding jobs, to look for low-energy pets that require less training.

The most difficult dog breeds: a veterinarian’s opinion

Another dog TikTok star, Dr. Whitney Terrell, shared her thoughts on dog breeds she just wouldn’t have. His verdict is partly due to veterinary experience, partly to personal preference, so this modest list is unlikely to be taken too seriously. But it is possible to take note of it.

Chinese crested and other hairless breeds

The first breed that Whitney would not own is a Chinese Crested. A TikTok veterinarian admits she just doesn’t like hairless dogs. “They have problems with their skin and subcutaneous fat. When you pick them up, they look like a sack full of eggs!

Chihuahua

The doctor says that over the years of her practice, she has only met a few cute chihuahuas. They are mostly aggressive and noisy animals that bite people’s ankles.

Brachycephalic breeds (pugs, shih tzus, Boston terriers, etc.)

“Because of their anatomy, they have difficulty breathing and snore,” says Whitney. And he adds that these dog breeds generally suffer from dermatitis, have many allergies and are also prone to flatulence.

German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois

They have the potential to make great pets, but Whitney reminds them that they require a lot of attention and training. She adds that “95% of these breeds want to bite your face because they are not trained properly.”

If you’re considering getting one of these dogs, she says you shouldn’t make the decision lightly and you should be 200 percent sure you’ll have enough time to properly care for it.

Doodle

In Whitney’s experience, these dogs are hyperactive and cannot sit still for two seconds. It is also important that this breed can have regular ear infections and, furthermore, proper care costs a pretty penny.
