Health surveillance authorities have reported adverse events caused by the use of these glues which are not tested for contact with skin, nails or eyes.
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has launched an alert to highlight the danger of using instant glues to fix nails and false eyelashes. With the arrival of summer and its holidays, several Health Surveillance Departments have reported to the Agency adverse events caused by the use of these glues.
According to Anvisa some of the brands used are: Super adhesive, TekBond AND Three bonds. Using these products can cause serious health damage, including blindness, as they are not tested for contact with skin, nails or eyes.

Anvisa also spoke about the accident involving the actress Regina Casé. The actress suffered a chemical injury to her cornea caused by wearing false eyelashes.
“[Isso] highlights the urgency of paying attention to the use of glues, especially those not regulated by Anvisa for cosmetic purposes”, reads a note from the agency.

Recommendations
Anvisa recommends the immediate suspension of the use of these products and suggests that professionals and consumers only use products regulated by Anvisa.
If any complications arise from the use of these glues, consumers should seek assistance from a healthcare professional.
Additionally, problems must be reported to the local, city or state Department of Health Oversight for appropriate investigation.
“The active collaboration of everyone is essential to reduce risks and guarantee the safety of the population”, assesses Anvisa.
