While essential, this type of work often is invisible and less valued from a socioeconomic point of view, often carried out by women for free or underpaid. At the domestic level, the care economy is connected to housework and the care of children and family members.

“Companies are aware of this burden on women, so much so that, in many cases, in performance feedback, the manager ends up giving negative feedback to a woman, because she is a mother and also dedicates herself to taking care of her children , having a greater need to work home officefor example, even if they have equal or greater commitment than men, whether they are parents or not”, underlines Camila Lourençato, lawyer and managing partner of Irmanas.

To change this scenario, according to the expert, it is necessary to adopt measures that contribute to the construction of a more just and egalitarian society, which recognizes and values ​​the care work carried out mainly by women.

According to her, “it is necessary to create deadlines and indicators that indicate the success of actions.” Furthermore, it is necessary “that women are more than listened to: that they are truly understood and included in the development of these solutions”.
