Known mainly for the attractions of Alto Paraíso and Cavalcante, the Chapada dos Veadeiros Tourist Region, in the north-east of Goiás, also includes the municipalities of Teresina de Goiás, Colinas do Sul and São João d’Aliança.
The high season runs from December until Carnival, however the best months are usually the transition periods between the seasons (September and October) and between May and June, when the rivers are in flood and the vegetation is greener.
The dry season runs from May to October, with peaks of heat between September and October, when humidity is low and temperatures exceed 30 degrees.
Rain tends to fall heaviest between November and April, and the coldest month is June, where mornings can start at 8 degrees.

Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park
Vila de São Jorge / Alto Paraíso de Goiás
Created in 1961, this UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its trails of varying degrees of difficulty and waterfalls, such as the Saltos and Carioquinhas waterfalls.
Among the highlights are the Carousel Trail, which passes rapids, waterfalls and natural pools and can be combined with the walk to Saltos do Rio Preto. The return route can be done via Trilha das Corredeiras, for a total of 8.2 km of circuit.

High Paradise of Goiás
With one of the most impressive views of the National Park, this trail has as its final destination the natural viewpoint overlooking the Rio Preto waterfalls I and II (120 and 80 meters high respectively). The walk is about eight kilometers long and crosses an area with remains of crystal mines.

With rock formations that resemble the surface of the moon, the attraction is one of the most photogenic and visited places in the entire Chapada, and features natural swimming pools, formed from rocks sculpted by the water.
Cordovil waterfall

It is located on the GO-239 road, inside the Volta da Serra Sanctuary, a farm with the possibility of a rural breakfast. The attraction is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls during the rainy season.
Almécegas I and II

Fazenda São Bento is home to these two stepped waterfalls, used for adventure activities, such as abseiling (Almécegas I), and natural pools for bathing (Almécegas II).

Considered the first conservation unit in Brazil to have shared management, between the municipality of Alto Paraíso and the government of Goiás, this area of approximately five thousand hectares is located in the region of Cataratas do Rio dos Couros, in a sector linked to the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, in the north-east of Goiás.

26 km from the city, this 187 meter high waterfall in the Bellatrix Reserve is the largest waterfall in Goiás and one of the largest in Brazil.
