For a long time, oilseeds were considered bad in the diet due to their high calorie content. But with the support of numerous research, today, these same foods are seen as allies of health.

Dried fruit, as well as small meals, act on mechanisms that contribute to increasing the sense of satiety, calming hunger. But scientists explain that it is necessary to have balance and avoid excesses, so as not to have negative effects than expected.

According to nutritionist Gustavo Rosa Gentil Andrade, master in Public Health at the University of São Paulo (USP), oilseeds offer good proportions of beneficial mono- and polyunsaturated fats. Both stand out in studies for protecting arteries, controlling cholesterol levels, protecting the heart, and helping reduce the risk of diseases such as stroke and heart attack.

Hazelnuts are part of the oilseed group, which contain beneficial fats and group B vitamins. In the past they were widely used by the Romans in sauce recipes to accompany game meat. It currently serves as the raw material for one of the most famous creams in the world.
