Ovo Caribe disappears from stores and is sold online for more than R$200

Consumers complain about the absence on the shelves and the little filling present in Garoto chocolate

The traditional Caribbean bonbon is the kind that divides opinion: love it or hate it. On social media it is common to find people who say that he is the only one left in Garoto’s box.

Despite this, the company responded to requests from fans of banana-filled candies and launched its Easter egg, which weighs 219 g, with a suggested price of R$ 39.90. But everything suggests that the company has not calculated the number of admirers of this banana-filled chocolate very well.

12 days after Easter Sunday, the egg disappeared from supermarket and shop shelves and became a rarity. On the Internet you can now find smart people who want to make a big profit from “thirsty” fans and sell the egg for more than R $ 200. Prices can exceed R $ 440 for just one unit of egg.

Missing on the market, Caribbean Easter eggs are being sold at absurd prices on the internet

By doing a quick search on social media you can find complaints about the difficulty in finding Caribe eggs and also about the little filling found, which has left many people frustrated.

Taste He contacted Garoto’s press office, who said they will no longer be producing new eggs this Easter, meaning all distribution has already been done and the flavor quickly sold out in several places around the country.

“Nestlé and Garoto’s Easter production ended in January 2024 and, at this time, we will not return with production, as our efforts are already focused on closing the period in 2024 and we are already studying scenarios for Easter 2025”.

And since finding eggs in shops has become almost a “mission impossible”, there are those who create alternatives to please candy lovers, buying them by weight and even pastry chefs who make handmade eggs with Garoto chocolate.

This is the case of Renan Rocha, from Belém do Pará, who sells Easter eggs and created the version filled with Caribe sweets, which costs R$70 for the 350 version and R$85 for the half-kilo version.

On TikTok you can also find videos of people teaching how to prepare Caribbean eggs at home with lots of filling!
