The best Easter eggs of 2024

Look how the 60 chocolate eggs tested in the “Paladar” mega tasting fared.

The wait is over: finally the results of the Easter egg mega-tasting Palate, which reaches its 19th edition with 60 samples tested: the selection includes both artisanal recipes and proposals produced by large industry. This year the chocolate eggs were divided into six categories: milk, intense, white, crunchy, filled shell and trend, which in 2024 could only be pistachio, right?

It’s worth mentioning that, during the sample selection, we also noticed other trends that set the tone for this Easter, such as the good offer of dark milkwhich would be milk chocolate options with a higher percentage of cocoa in the composition and crunchy versions made from popcorn or roasted corn.

A strong jury – composed of journalist Ana Lourenço, pastry chef and chocolatier Caio Corrêa, reporter for Palate Danielle Nagase, PAC baker Diego Muniz, and food researcher and Comida na Cabeça co-author Joana Pellerano – evaluated the samples for visual appearance, aroma, breakage (which indicates whether the seasoning was done correctly ), melting in the mouth and, obviously, flavour.

Before you go out to buy your Easter egg, consult the ranking, with the three best in each category, as well as the judges’ opinion for each of the 60 samples, presented in alphabetical order.
