After starting the judicial recovery process for the Starbucks operation in Brazil, SouthRock Capital, also the operator of Subway in Brazil, has requested protection to avoid the bankruptcy of the restaurant chain. Debts exceed R$482 million.
The request was presented to the 1st Bankruptcy Court of São Paulo. According to SouthRock, creditors began “unexpectedly” and “forcefully and unilaterally” to pursue immediate satisfaction of their claims, which put pressure on their financial situation.
