As much as it is possible to improvise, it is worth investing in some utensils that will help you make delicious cocktails

Carnival is already with us and, even if the traditional roadblocks have been canceled, there is still a chance to find friends back home – and celebrate with great drinks. But for even more fun, it’s important to have a few – or more – utensils in your bar.
Here we list the ones that are essential for setting up your home bar. While there are items that can be improvised (and we’ll give you some tips!), It’s worth investing in tools to power up your cocktails.
Before you get started, take a look at the tips from our beverage expert, Gilberto Amendola, of Giba balcony. in the video below. It also teaches how to prepare a quick and easy cocktail to be protagonists of Carnival.
glass of wine
The classic burgundy glass, protruding and with an open mouth, is ideal for spritz, aperol and a turbo gin and tonic. Invest!
juicer
There’s not much of a secret: A good juicer helps extract citrus juice dirt-free and faster.
ice cream
Ice is very important in the final result of the cocktail. So larger ice cubes are a worthwhile investment, as they will dilute more slowly and hold the temperature of the drink without making it watery.
tamper
Used to extract fruit juices and vegetable essences. A good caipirinha, for example, doesn’t exist without a tamper. Polyethylene black is the most used by professionals.
Tall glass and low glass
The low glass is versatile, it can be used from caipirinha to negroni and in drinks “on the rocks”. Opt for a model with at least 350ml. The tall, Collins-style glass has 1001 uses in the cocktail shop, almost anything can be served, from gin and tonic to mojitos, breezes and long drinks.
ballerina spoon

The spiral handle helps to mix liquids with ice in the mixing glass or glass. If you don’t have a ballerina spoon, you can opt for a chopstick (the stick used to eat Japanese food).
shaker
This item is essential for pureed drinks and is available on the market in different sizes and shapes. The traditional model comes with a colander. The improvised option is a shaker from Boston, advice from our columnist Gilberto Amendola: use two glasses (one with the mouth slightly smaller than the other). In the larger cup put the ingredients. Then place the smaller glass on top (upside down, mouth to mouth). Keep the ends tight and shake. To let the liquid out, make a small opening between the glasses.
colander / colander
a colander: separates solids and liquids when pouring the drink into the glass. Molinha from the paraphernalia is used to beat acidic drinks with egg whites.
Doser / meter
Making a drink “by eye”, without the correct measure of each ingredient, does not work well for those with no experience in preparing cocktails. The dispenser is also known as a jigger, and the ideal is to look for those with measures in ml, such as 30/60 ml or 25/50 ml, of one and a half doses.
For drinks that require equal parts, such as Negroni (30ml gin / 30ml red vermouth / 30ml Campari), you can replace the meter with a cup of coffee or a shot glass.
