In collaboration with May Macarons, a burger joint serves a sweet version of its most famous sandwich
All over the world, pastry chefs are inspired by the optical illusions, or “trompe-loeil,” of Cedric Grolet, the king of imitations of hazelnuts, pears, apples and other fruits. In addition to selling at a better price than the almost R$ 100 of the French, they also risk their own formats, such as the amazing hamburger created by May Macarons.
“Sometimes we receive comments saying that our macaron looks like a hamburger. We thought it would be nice to use it to propose a dessert to Bullguer. They immediately approved, it was really beautiful,” says Mayra Toledo, the pastry chef of the renowned biscuit boutique , in the Gardens.
At the same time, the Macaburger or Chocolat Bullguer pays homage to Brazil’s first smash burger, which has been served in the burger restaurant since 2015. Like the thin bun, which weighs around 100 grams, the equally light almond flour biscuit looked just as perfect as new brand dessert.
With a diameter of 7 centimeters (the equivalent of two macarons), this treat combines two crunchy buns (macaron shells) that simulate the typical Bullguer bread. To fill them, a hamburger with chocolate ganache, marshmallows as sauce and a slice of white chocolate as cheddar.
“Despite its appearance, the cheese is simply white chocolate that melts quickly. It becomes a thin, crunchy layer, as the rest of the filling is softer,” says Mayra.
The Macaburger starts selling today for R$20, exclusively in 19 Bullguer physical units. They are: Anália Franco, Berrini, Cerro Corá, Eldorado, Jardins, Shopping Light, Mooca, Morumbi, Osasco, Paraíso, Perdizes, República, Santana, Vila Madalena, Vila Mariana, Vila Olímpia and Vila Nova Conceição in the capital of São Paulo, Campinas and Jundiaí, in the interior.
