Friends don’t look at prices in a Japanese restaurant and a R$1,000 bill is scary; clock

The consumer shared the experience on TikTok and it went viral on social media

Are you the type to check menu prices or did you just order without thinking twice? Tiktoker Amber shared a moment on her social media that demonstrates the importance of remembering to take a quick look so you don’t get surprised when you pay.

In a video that has reached 8.9 million views, he showed his friends’ reaction when they received the bill at a Japanese restaurant. Ultimately, people ended up spending US$200 (approximately R$1,000).

“Guys, I thought it was going to be about $70.” In the video image, the TikToker wrote: “POV: You pick up items in a conveyor belt sushi restaurant without checking the price of each dish and finally get the bill,” one of the friends said.

The restaurant is part of the Japanese Kura Sushi chain, known for its conveyor belts that pass with items so that each consumer can choose what they want to eat. Each dish has a specific price and the value is individual.

“I just didn’t expect it to be that much, especially since the quality wasn’t that good,” Amber said in the comments. Other users debated whether the price could really be considered high. “$200 for four people is a good price,” one said. “$50 each is about right for sushi,” added another.

The tiktoker replies that the value was really adequate, especially for what they consumed and also for the quality of the products that the restaurant offers.

“No, not for intermediate sushi. I spend $50 for two people, including appetizers and drinks, and the quality is incredible.” According to one of the users, the restaurant charges around 4 US dollars (around R$20) for each plate with two pieces of sushi,” she concluded.
