A writer, Roseana Murray, 73, was attacked by three pit bulls on Friday (5) in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, with one of her arms torn off due to the bites. On Friday (5), writer Roseana Murray, 73, was attacked by three pit bulls in Saquarema, Lagos Region. She was dragged for 5 meters and had part of her arm torn off due to the bites.
The owner of the dogs, who lives in a nearby house, was taken by Military Police to the Saquarema police station, gave a statement and was later released. The animals were taken to a temporary home.
Roseana was born in Rio in 1950. Graduated in French literature at the Alliance Française of the University of Nancy, she began writing poetry for children in the early 1980s.
Roseana has published around 100 books and has received awards such as those from the Sao Paulo Theater Critics Association (APCA), the National Foundation for Children’s and Youth Books (FNLIJ) and the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL).
On Friday night, Rio de Janeiro civil police identified three people responsible for the dogs. They will be liable for personal injury. Two of them, who are relatives of the man and claim to own the dogs, remain in prison and will face criminal charges for causing bodily harm and failing to exercise caution.
