Syrian rice: try this recipe and surprise your family’s lunch

Syrian rice

Time: 1 hour

Performance: 6 servings

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 whole onion without peel
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 1/2 cups (tea) water
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 250 g of minced meat
  • 1 teaspoon Syrian pepper
  • 2 cups parboiled rice
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup skinless almonds

Preparation method:

  1. In a pressure cooker, over low heat, place the chicken breast, the whole onion with the skewered segments, the cinnamon, the water and the chicken broth.
  2. Cover the pan and cook for 15 minutes from when the pressure starts.
  3. Remove from heat and allow pressure to release naturally.
  4. Remove the chicken, filter the broth and set aside.
  5. Chop the chicken and set aside.
  6. In a pan, over medium heat, heat the oil and fry the onion for 3 minutes or until wilted.
  7. Add the minced meat, Syrian pepper and sauté for 4 minutes.
  8. Add the rice and fry for 2 minutes.
  9. Add the chicken cooking water, add salt if necessary, and cook in a covered pan until the water dries up.
  10. In a pan, over medium heat, melt the butter, add the almonds and let them brown slightly, being careful not to burn.
  11. Remove from the heat, drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
  12. Fluff the rice with a fork and transfer it to a large baking dish.
  13. Top with grated chicken and golden almonds.
  14. Serve immediately.
