Cartoonist Mauricio de Sousa shared a tribute to his friend and professional colleague Ziraldo, who passed away from natural causes at the age of 91

The businessman and cartoonist Maurice de Sousacreator of Monica’s gangwanted to share a public tribute to his great friend and professional colleague Ziraldodied on the afternoon of March 6, in his apartment in the Lagoa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, at the age of 91.




Mauricio de Sousa’s tribute to Ziraldo

On his official Instagram profile, Mauricio de Sousa, who has more than 508 thousand followers, published a series of photos together with Ziraldo taken throughout his life, as well as a drawing in which he appears next to his friend.

In the photographic carousel we also see Mauricio de Sousa in one of the images with a metal pan on his head, in reference to the character Crazy guyZiraldo’s main work.

In the caption of the share, Mauricio de Sousa greeted his friend, writing: “How sad! I have no words. I have lost more than one great friend. I have lost a brother. Of letters, of lines and of life! But he will always be here in my heart. And in the hearts of millions of crazy Brazilians, of all ages, who will continue to be passionate about his work. Long live Ziraldo!”

Out of curiosity, the cover photo that appears in this article, also shared by Mauricio de Sousa in his tribute to his friend, was taken on Ziraldo’s birthday in 2019, shortly before the pandemic, when the cartoonist turned 87.
