The designer pays homage to the Martinelli palace with a layered fashion show

João Pimenta held the penultimate parade of the 57th edition of the SPFW, this Sunday afternoon (14), in the center of São Paulo, taking guests to the terrace of the Martinelli building, whose construction began in 1924 and was the first skyscraper in São Paulo Paulo, opened in 1929. With simpler lines than the baroque and ornate style of other collections presented at fashion week, the designer presented the pieces in layers.

The models passed three times through the 26th floor terrace of the powerful pink building, located on Libero Badaró street. In each of them, an additional item of clothing was displayed, over the previous one or to replace the second one shown compared to the initial basic look. First, polo shirts, printed t-shirts, shirts or a lighter blazer. Then, jackets, knitwear, vests, ponchos, lighter coats. The elongated length and cropped pieces set the tone for the looks. Finally, heavier pieces, such as faux fur coats, heavy knitwear, wool, twill, transparencies.

The homage to the centenary building did not stop only at the choice of location. Several looks were the property’s dusty pink, plainclothes, tye dye and plaid, a print that also appeared in brownish tones. On some pieces, such as t-shirts, shirts and coats, the building served as a print.

Veteran model Claudia Liz graced the runway among other male models with two looks: one with a white shirt and pants. another with a beige shirt and trousers and a white faux fur coat, part of the faux fur trend popular in the Northern Hemisphere winter and expected to arrive here on colder days.

The loose, comfortable fit of menswear by João Pimenta, master of deconstructed tailoring, was accompanied by maximized utilitarian details, with huge pockets on trousers, shorts, coats, jackets and blazers, even positioned on the back of top pieces. Large bags made from the same fabric as the dresses accompanied several looks.
