It is the largest exhibition dedicated to the Chaves and Chapolin series […]
A hit with audiences since its debut earlier this year, ‘Chaves: The Exhibition’ continues to be presented at the MIS Experience, São Paulo.
The unprecedented exhibition, considered the largest exhibition dedicated to the Chaves and Chapolin series, celebrates 40 years since the series aired in Brazil, “the country where Chaves is the most popular in the world”, according to André Sturm, director general of MIS Experience.
In São Paulo, a space of over a thousand m² welcomes visitors with two of the most popular creations of the Mexican Roberto Gómez Bolaños, in 26 scenes with a collection of over two thousand pieces donated by the comedian’s family, such as personal objects, props and costumes .

More than an exhibition with bibliographical data from the creator of Chaves and Chapolin, the exhibition is a dive into recreated scenes from both series, such as the two courtyards of the village, Dona Florinda’s restaurant and even Chaves’ tamarind juice shop, strategically positioned next to Quico’s exuberant juice cart.
In an exclusive statement to Travel by fareRoberto Gómez Fernández, son of Bolaños, spoke of the international fame of Chaves which, since its launch in 1973, has achieved excellent ratings and won fans in several Latin American countries.
“The village of Chaves is a microcosm in which we can identify not only in a neighborhood in Mexico, but also in some favelas here in Brazil. It is a microcosm where there are contrasts. What my father did very well was to identify the human condition, which in Brazil is very similar to ours”, analyzes Fernández, who is also a Mexican actor and comedian.
Another strong point of the exhibition is the recreation of rare scenarios in the history of the series, such as the interior of the house of Dona Clotilde, better known as the Witch of 71, with her cauldron, her spells and the feared cat Satan.
Not even Acapulco, which became Guarujá in Brazil, was left out.
The exhibition also recreates part of one of the most remembered episodes, when the characters travel to the Mexican location. At the MIS Experience, for example, the public will be able to see a small replica of the swimming pool of the Hotel Acapulco Continental, where the scenes of the 1977 episode were filmed.
