The physiotherapist explains how this can influence the choice of sneakers
Wearing sneakers and feeling pain in your feet or other parts of your body could be a sign of poor step. This is a more common problem than it seems. However, for some, it may go unnoticed. Therefore, it is important to know your foot type and choose the right sneakers for your needs.
“Using the right insole, as well as the best sneakers, can mitigate pain levels and allow a person to walk or run better. The right sneakers aren’t just an accessory, they’re your travel companion on the slopes and on the roads”, underlines Caio Marengoni, physiotherapist and clinical director of the Instituto RV, rehabilitation clinic.
Types of steps
Below Caio Marengoni explains each type of trampling. “Knowing your pace is like finding the key to a more comfortable and injury-free run”, underlines the physiotherapist.
1. Neutral step
Considered one of the most widespread, covering approximately 45% of the population, as the name suggests, it represents the type of trampling in which the force is equally distributed. For many orthopedists, this is the trampled ideal, since with it no overload occurs in any region of the foot and, as a result, the joints tend to receive the same amount of force.
2. Pronate
It is common in athletes and people who tend to have some body misalignment knee, with rotation of the joints inwards, causing the inside of the foot to receive the greatest load. In pronators it is common to notice increased shoe wear on the inside of the shoe.
3. Bench
It is the type of step opposite to pronation, meaning the athlete or person wears the outside of the shoe more.

Pronator or supinator shoes
With the advancement of technology, many brands have expanded their market by launching specific lines for pronators or supinators. However, it is important to highlight that using a tennis pronator or supinator without knowing their degree of pronation may not bring the expected benefits, but problems in relation to the health of the feet, causing pain.
Therefore, according to Caio Marengoni, individualized care is important to identify the focus of the problem. “Each service is unique. We analyze the individual needs of each patient and develop the most appropriate therapeutic approach for each case. The technology is integrated into our treatment program, with the aim of providing patients with the most advanced options in physiotherapy treatment conservative”, explains the professional.
