Cozinha Torno marks the debut of the Mandril Arquitetura studio at CASACOR SP 2024 and uses pieces signed by the professional duo in 55 m²
To celebrate 10 years in office Spindle architectureThe architect Bruno Reis and interior designer Helena Kallas had to face a real challenge: to create – literally from scratch and in less than two months – an environment based on the theme “From the present, now” in a space 55 m2 for CASACOR SP 2024.
The project of Cooking on the wheel One of the starting points for the concept was the experience the duo had at Ateliê Cerâmica and Cia, modeling clay with the tool that gave its name to the space. Learning an ancient technique that above all requires the utmost attention has allowed the duo to produce, specifically for the exhibition, a collection of vases and lamp bases, as well as the handcrafted ceramic coverings that make up the table top – central element of the space.

In the kitchen, the original pieces are the protagonists and invite the visitor to focus on the present, as happens when handling the lathe, to contemplate the current moment, with an attentive and reflective eye. The lathe is also represented by the bet on curved lineswhich arise essentially in the details of the wood processing carried out by SCAlike the one that covers the hood and sides of the “wet” island cabinet.
To the the turned shapes are still at one end of the table top, structured in metal – and on the back of the classic “Tião” chairs, made in Sergio Rodriguescollected in the Gallery Theo. Restored, the pieces have new coverings with work carried out by Nice ideain blue fabric.

Color, in fact, is another strong point and comes in different materials and shades. One of the walls was painted with the color ” Deep indigothe”, of Coral. Blue is also on tablets Keramikaon the “hot” bench, in the tapestry of the seventies Luiz Carlos Albertifrom the collection of Paint gallery, and in the brushstrokes of the table top covering. And the choice of this color has a particular reason. It is directly linked to the memories the members have of their respective grandmothers and, consequently, with their ancestors. While Bruno’s grandmother always used the expression “all blue” to say that she was fine, Elena’s grandmother “covered” her with a blue cloak to convey protection.

A large sideboard with a leather tray hosts, to the left of the entrance, in addition to the ceramics handmade by the duo, antique pieces, also from Galeria Téo, interspersed with the delicate workmanship of Flowers by Maria Atelier Botanico, who created all the provisions for the environment. On the opposite side, the Invechiatto Champagne ceramics – Terracotta Line, by Haresthey cover part of the floor, wall, ceiling and molding, framing the tapestry.

The remaining walls and the rest of the ceiling were painted that color Oriental satin, also from Corallo. Wales porcelain tiles, from Portinari. The fronts of the worktop and island furniture are made of Dekton Nacre – Kraftizen Collection Line, supplied by Cosentino and operated by Neogran. From the Deca they are the metals (vat and mixer); and from LG, home appliances. In the background, the hollow element designed in carpentry allows the entry of natural light, among plants of various species (dracena, pinanga palm, pleomele ribbon, boa constrictor, ivy and bunch coin), creating a play of shadows, atmospheres and sensations.

The environment also favors contemporary national design with the Benjamim bench, Gustavus Bittencourtthe E-cone pendant lamp, made in Carolina Maluhy, and the Eclipse wall lights, by Fernando Pradoboth sold by Lights, where the stains also come from. The lighting project is signed by the architect Eduardo Lemosfrom the Estúdio Iluminação.
