The most famous delicacies stalls of Praça da Liberdade, not to be missed on your weekend trip
A Freedom Fair It has been taking place on weekends since 1975 and is full of people milling around the red and white tents of the Freedom Squarein Sao Paulo.
In the 1970s the focus of the fair was on craftsmanship. Among the over 200 stalls there are still those selling bags, jewellery, paintings and handmade decorations, but it is the food stalls that are crowded.
Here the key word is patience: there is no point in rushing to make your way through the crowd or to be served at the counters. But the good news is that the wait is usually rewarded by the delicious flavors of Japanese and Chinese cuisine.
In the gastronomic universe of Freedom Fairthe stalls selling noodles (yakissoba or yakibifum), octopus and shrimp ravioli (takoyaki and ebiyaki), Japanese sweets (guioza), breaded vegetables and seafood (tempurá), breaded fried chicken (karaage) and dumplings are more successful. stuffed rice (. mochi).
The public has favorite places, where the queues tend to be longer. A Nakamura family produces gyoza which are a reference in Freedom Fair. The dough and filling that mixes vegetables, beef and pork are freshly prepared.
The shrimp and octopus ravioli are the most popular at Naraki family and in the tent Yamaguchi . The tempura is with Wu’s tent and the Eastern tent who prepare excellent breadings with fresh prawns.
OR Temaki by Ailton It is self-explanatory and also very popular. For dessert, the Imagawayaki prepares a dessert of the same name filled with adzuki bean paste.
