The 1906R Moonrock, sold in Brazil for R$1,199.99, has all the brand features that made New Balance have a party of its own
Gray Day has been celebrated by New Balance since 2018 and has become a sort of anniversary for the company, in which the color dominates practically all the brand’s silhouettes, with exclusive packs launched for the celebration. Officially featured and with global launches for the second time in the country, the day dates back to 1980, when NB abandoned the bright colors that dominated the performance sneaker market at the time (and still today) to focus on grey, which soon became He excelled in marathons, including the one in Boston, his hometown.

Since then, more than fifty shades of gray have passed through the brand’s sneakers, solidifying the legacy of the “Dad Shoes” and casual running sneakers, which are now a hit on shelves around the world as retrorunners. And one member of this year’s Gray Day pack, in particular, caught our attention because it represents, in my opinion, everything New Balance is as a company. A quick look is enough, even for those who don’t understand tennis, to see how past and present merge in the colors of history.

The upper, made of open-pore mesh and suede and smooth leather coverings, gives the sneaker a very interesting retro look, which contrasts with the rubber structure on the heel, which gives a tone of visual modernity to the model. Furthermore, the upper has some light stains, seen up close, which appear camouflage, almost like an Easter egg.

The tongue has a very soft internal lining, slightly more than the rest of the sneaker’s lining, and a suede tag with an embossed rubberized print. The NLock with fabric stripe in the color of the midsole completes the style of the sneaker’s upper. Speaking of the midsole, it is flexible with Acteva Lite technology and combined with N-Ergy and Abzorb cushioning.

Focus on comfort
Together, the three create a very comfortable environment for the feet inside the sneakers. Despite its rugged appearance, the 1906R is perfect for everyday use, as it does not wear out your feet even with continuous use for hours. And to ensure this longevity of use, the sneakers also have an NDurance outsole, with a low wear rate and a high traction rate.
