Bridgerton: 5 valuable lessons we learned from the Netflix series

The success of the series “Bridgerton” continues to be underlined with the arrival of the second part of the 3rd season broadcast on Netflix. In the new episodes, which arrived this Thursday (13), the protagonist is Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). Anyone who has followed the plot from the beginning knows that the character now appears exuding self-confidence in a visual transformation and character evolution as a whole.

However, the story doesn’t just encourage romance and the costumes exude color and glamour. Bring the lessons we learn into real life, in a light and extroverted way. This is what psychoanalyst and systemic therapist Ana Lisboa helped us list in the five main lessons of the plot. Let’s go!

Don’t compare yourself!

Some changes in Penelope were evident in all chapters, compared to previous seasons. The character, from the beginning, stands out for her shyness. Passionate about books and city dances, she went practically unnoticed in the corners of the large halls, without attracting attention due to a possible marriage. And of course this was entirely tied to the life that she’s led since season one.

“Penelope has always lived in an environment that shaped her personality and she came to believe it, especially because she was seen ‘outside the visual standards’ compared to other women of the time. In addition to having very strong problems with her mother, who she compared her with her sisters, with her friends, always leaving her down”, the psychoanalyst emphasizes. Despite this, in this third season, the character evolves in several aspects and surprises with his clear stance of self-acceptance, especially in the last chapter of the first part.

Wear your best clothes

It’s normal to keep that special dress only for certain moments. The psychoanalyst recalls that in “Bridgerton” every day seems special: dances, dates or a simple walk in the park. All the characters are dressed incredibly and Ana emphasizes the importance of this in every moment of our lives. “Wearing our best clothes must always be on the weekly checklist. It demonstrates our value, represents us and makes us feel better. Penelope, in this third season she changes her look, colors, models and even hair, and you can’t hide this change in a very short time time,” the therapist comments.

Discover your hobby!

The character, shy and reserved at the same time, hides a big secret: being the mind behind Lady Whistledown, the city’s “gossip” columnist. Penelope manages to impress everyone in the series with her impeccable writing and exclusive gossip from her in every series released. The seasons also revolve around discovering who this Lady might be. So, since Penelope always went unnoticed, these assumptions were never directed at her.

“When we move the body for some action, sport or hobby in general, we are automatically moving the mind. Doing ourselves some good. Of course Penelope, being the Lady, also has her quirks and lies throughout the plot, but the message is very clear: always have a hobby, a way to complete the day”, comments Ana Lisboa.

Learn to dance on your own

So you won’t miss any music. Penelope lived her life, in the first two seasons, alone. Relying on Eloise Bridgerton’s friendship, but without great love. In this third season she returns committed to finding a partner. She has fun moments searching for the ideal partner, but at the end of the first part it becomes very clear who her true love is: Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Even, at the beginning of this season, he helps Penelope to be more ‘seductive’ with men and tries to help her in this mission.

“Do not look in others for what you often already have in yourself. At the right time, someone will enter your rhythm and dance to the music with you”, completes the psychoanalyst.
