Norway inaugurates floating staircase on the fjords

The structure at 790 meters high offers fantastic views for those who dare to look around

Above the azure waters surrounded by mountains in the village of Loen, a “floating staircase” was unveiled at the Norway at the end of May. It is a steel cable structure 40 meters long and 790 meters high.

The feeling when you go up is that you are going towards the sky and, for those who see it from afar, people actually seem to be floating.

The heights are dizzying, but the spectacular scenery of the Loen fjords is worth it. From above, the spectacular view of houses at the foot of snow-capped mountains, gorges and lakes fills the eyes.

The “floating ladder” is actually called Stigull and is part of the 1011 meter high Mount Hoven climbing route called Via Ferrata Loen . To reach the structure you must have already traveled most of the route.

The journey to Mount Hoven involves climbing ladders, ziplines, suspension bridges and climbing walls always with a rope attached to the body. After reaching the top of the mountain, the return journey is via the Loen Skylift, one of the steepest in the world.

The route is carried out with groups of 40 people in six hours. The adventure requires guides for those with experience, but beginners must hire an instructor.
