7 amazing ladders that will encourage homework

Straight, cantilevered or curved in design, stepped structures can become the highlight of a project, earning sculpture status.

At every step, beauty, creativity and technical rigor structure stairs that flirt with art. Playing a leading role in the projects, the following seven proposals also combine functionality and good use of space. Discover the details of these offers by scrolling the screen.

Metal rods fixed to the slab and base of the staircase create a unique railing for the element that connects the couple's bedroom to the wardrobe, taking advantage of the 5m ceiling height. Only 50 cm wide and equipped with 22 cm steps and mirrors, the structure designed by architect Tucah Campos was electrostatically painted in copper, visually blending with the furniture in the background (Marcenaria Oriol).

4. Creative design



The house replaced the old concrete staircase with this version with planks of different types of wood. The first three steps, resting on the floor and walls, are followed by the hollow span fan and steel support plates. Then come the footprints carved into the brickwork. “The new model opened up space for a bathroom,” explains architect Flavio Cunha, signatory of the project, created by his studio SET Arquitetura e Construções.

5. Guardrail discretion



The zigzag with a metal structure covered in walnut leaves is the protagonist in this living room, connecting it to the mezzanine. “The fixing profile of the railing is hidden under a wooden cover, giving the impression that the tempered glass is embedded in the joinery,” explains architect Simone Saccab Vianna, author of the idea. Note that the second step, 40 cm from the ground, has been extended to also act as a bench. Execution: Fazzio carpentry and decorations, with Comovil glass.

6. Bent metal



With a curious configuration, this 1950s property featured a spiral structure in the center of the room. “But the tenant dreamed of a piece of white sheet metal,” says architect Duda Senna, who, to fulfill the request, moved the access to the second floor, next to the entrance door. Mounted on the wall and suspended via metal rods attached to the structural beam, the new model, 75cm wide, was made of bent and cast metal by IRJ Rodrigues Engenharia.

7. Pure lightness



In this industrial style apartment, with 5.20 m of ceiling height, the staircase has arrived to expand the available space. “You get to the mezzanine, built during the renovation. So we transformed the 35 m² apartment into a 50 m² duplex,” explains architect Marina Breves. The iron steps (70 x 28 cm) rest on a transversal beam embedded in the wall and are equipped with a railing made of steel cables fixed to the roof slab. Cumaru's planks form the footprints.
