Passenger embarkation and disembarkation will resume, but landings and take-offs will continue at Canoas Air Base.
Fraport, the company that manages Salgado Filho, in Port Alegre announced that the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers will once again be carried out at the airport starting July 15. Flights, however, will remain at the Canoas air base, where passengers will be transported by bus.
As of today, passenger processing and security checks are carried out at ParkShopping Canoas. The resumption of operations at the airport will take place in the parts of the passenger terminal (levels 2 and 3) that were not affected by the flooding in May.
For boarding, access to the passenger terminal will be via the external ramp leading to level 2, and entry will be through gates 5 and 6. Check-in and baggage drop-off will be done in the international check-in area. Afterwards, passengers must go up to level 3 and use the international boarding area for security checks. The area will have signs to reach the buses that will take you to Canoas Air Base.
Those disembarking at the base will be transported to Salgado Filho Airport, where they will collect their luggage. It is not permitted to go directly to the base or depart from there without the assistance of Fraport and airline staff.
With the resumption of service, some catering establishments will be open: Casa Café (2nd floor), Cidade Porto Alegre and Bella Gula (food court) and Hudson and Snoopy Café (departure lounge).
The passenger terminal will be open from 6:00 to 21:00. Passengers must arrive at the airport three hours before their flight and the boarding procedure will end 1h30 before the flight. After this time it will not be possible to access the departure hall.
