Find out which are the best chocolates in Switzerland, according to the Swiss themselves

Swiss chocolates are considered one of the best in the world for their flavor and creaminess. Marda Lindt, famous and recognized, with stores in several countries, has entered the list of top 5 evaluated by Swiss tasters!

In 1875, Swiss confectioner Daniel Peter created the recipe for the world’s first milk chocolate, which brought a light and smooth flavor that became a worldwide passion. The Swiss specialize in sweets – even though the country is not a cocoa producer – and are a world reference.

The SRF channel invited six experts to take part in a blind test and evaluate the 12 best-selling milk chocolate brands in Swiss retail. The evaluation, with scores of up to 5, took into account smell, taste, consistency and appearance.

Before the results, it was decided that if two chocolate brands received the same score from the jury, the cheaper one (per 100 grams) would get the higher position.

What is the best chocolate in Switzerland?

The chocolate chosen as the best in the world in Switzerland, with a score of 4.8, was Alprose Vollmilch, judged for its balance between milk and chocolate, described as having a “complex, harmonious and nutty flavour”.

Three brands scored 4.7, and the lowest value was taken into account to determine second place. The Coop supermarket brand Naturalplan costs 1.95 francs and according to the jury has “notes of caramel, brown sugar and vanilla”. Then came Migros Bio Au lait – Fairtrade and Lindt Milch Extra.

Nestlé’s Cailler Alpenmilchshokolade came in last with a score of 4. According to the judges, it is grainy, does not taste like Alpine chocolate and is very sweet.
