Respiratory health problems become common at this time
As with other seasons of the year, it is essential to take preventive measures to safeguard your health, in other words it is worth listening to the advice of a specialist. In this way, the infectious disease specialist of the Adventist Hospital Dr. Odeli Nicole Iasd will share three tips to avoid respiratory diseases in winter.
The trio of aids to avoid respiratory diseases in winter
Ventilated environments
“Make sure your home and workplace are always ventilated, that you open windows regularly to allow fresh air to circulate. Avoid crowds, especially in closed spaces, as high concentrations of people facilitate the spread of viruses and increase the risk of contagion,” he said.
Warm and hydrated
“Protecting yourself from the cold with appropriate clothing is essential to avoid exposure to intense cold, which can weaken the immune system. In addition, dry winter air can dehydrate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, making them more susceptible to infections. So drink plenty of water to stay hydrated,” he advised.
Healthy Habits
“Adopting a healthy lifestyle strengthens the immune system. Eating a balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly and sleeping well. Adequate sleep is essential for the body’s recovery and to keep the immune system strong,” concluded Dr. Odeli Nicole Iasd.
Given away
The survey conducted by the SBPT (Brazilian Society of Pulmonology and Phthisiology) found that approximately 20% of the Brazilian population suffers from respiratory diseases aggravated by the cold.
