Silvio Santos’ official hairdresser for 40 years was working when he received the news of his friend’s death
Jassa’s son, Robson Jassa, was on “Encontro com Patrícia Poeta” today and told the host what it was like to break the news of Silvio Santos’ death to his father, Jassa (79), hairdresser to the owner of SBT for over four decades.
“Saturday was very sad. It was very sad when I opened my phone and saw the news. Then I went to tell my father. And you are there, having to help people. We didn’t have the means. We closed the salon,” said the hairdresser, who now works in the same space as his father, Jassa Hair Studio, in São Paulo.
Robson also asked for forgiveness from the clients and journalists who came to him on Saturday (17), the day of Silvio Santos’ death. “I also want to apologize to the people who sent it on WhatsApp, asking us to talk, for my father to talk. On Saturday we just couldn’t do that,” he explained.
Jassa’s son also revealed that his father was present at Silvio Santos’ farewell ceremony, at the Cemitério Israelita do Butantã, reserved only for family and close friends of the Abravanel family. “Yesterday was also very difficult. After talking to my parents, who went to Silvio’s farewell, I saw that they had peace in their hearts and everything,” he said.
It was after having this contact with his parents that Robson decided to go on TV and give interviews. “[Pensei] I’ll do what Silvio would do. He doesn’t text, he doesn’t video. He appears. So I went to yesterday [Celso] Portiolli, on SBT, and when I received your invitation and saw what Globo did, a really beautiful tribute. I was very moved even just seeing Globo’s cartoon with Silvio.”

Robson Jassa, 45, is the son of Jassa, 79, who was the official hairdresser of Silvio Santos for four decades. He practically grew up as the grandson of Silvio Santos, as his father had already worked with the presenter since the boy’s childhood. As an adult, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and today also works as a hairdresser at Jassa Hair Studio.
According to the official website of the theater, Jassa, the father, met Silvio Santos in 1976, during the production of the theater show “We Also Know How to Do It.” On social media, the professional paid homage to Silvio with a photo showing him sitting with the presenter on a sign that read: Praça Silvio Santos. “We will stay in this square forever,” wrote the hairdresser.
