Vans Revives 1999 Upland Skate Shoe

Vans Upland launches in Brazil for R$649.99 with a rugged design that pays homage to 2000s fashion and culture

Vans combines retro appeal with contemporary appeal in the relaunch of the Upland. The model is part of the “Always Out There” campaign, celebrating the rich heritage of skateboarding and embracing a new generation of fans of the sport and the culture that surrounds it. Revisited from the Vans archives in 1999, the Upland receives a revitalization with an innovative outsole that promises comfort and sturdy support, ideal for everyday life.

Its design, a harmonious fusion of leather with the iconic Vans V logo, is a fashion statement for skatewear. The Upland collection will be presented in three exclusive versions throughout the year, starting with the black/white colorway on the 22nd, followed by the black/white/black in September and culminating with the orange/white leather in October. In addition to sneakers, Vans also introduces an apparel line that includes hats, backpacks, baggy pants, fleece vests, zip-up shirts and socks, all inspired by 2000s trends but with a modern twist.

The campaign had several cities as a stage

To bring the 2024 “Off The Wall” concept to life, Vans has collaborated with world-class skateboarders from cities including New York, London, and Tokyo. Figures like Beatrice Domond, Helena Long, and Rio Morishige, along with their collectives, embody the essence of the campaign, showcasing a mix of intelligence, style, and a refusal to stand still while the world moves on.
