As the boy reported to the channel BBCthe employees of the restaurant asked him to leave when he went to place the order. The alleged motive: He was “scaring” other customers. Bromley did not contest the decision and left the scene “very quickly”.
The incident occurred in August, following a period of hospitalization Bromley had undergone at King’s College London University Hospital. After leaving the medical unit, he wanted to stop at the restaurant to eat.
Upon entering, he saw that the place only accepted cash payments and left to go to an ATM. As soon as he returned to the premises, he was informed that customers had made complaints against him.
“There wasn’t enough time between the first time I was there and the time I came back for anyone to complain about me, so obviously the restaurant staff weren’t happy with the way I looked,” he told the British portal.
Without mentioning the restaurant’s name, Bromley filed a formal complaint with the establishment. But there was no response and he reported the matter to the police. He reiterated that he had been told that, despite the case being a hate crime, it was “unlikely” that authorities would investigate further.
