A new New York restaurant has innovated by having customers pay their bills up front so they can eat there for the next 10 years. Owner John Winterman and his partner and chef Chris Cipollone have been managing Francie since 2020, another successful restaurant in Williamsburg, in the Brooklyn district, which already boasts a Michelin star and has invested in the new business, which will complement the current one.

After raising $1.95 million in funding for the new home, they invited local residents to invest in the structure through a page on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to raise another $450,000.

“We want our neighbors in Williamsburg to have the opportunity to say that they have an interest in this place. That they want this little corner to be beautiful and fun and they want others to come here,” Winterman commented to the American magazine Forbes. To date, they have raised more than $101,000 through virtual fundraisers, supported by 37 neighbors.

Each investor supporter will be able to receive the equivalent of their donation in annual gift vouchers for the next 10 years. Every year you will be entitled to “eat” 10% of the value of your donation at the Allegretto restaurant, which is scheduled to open in December.

“Your support will help create one of the best wood-fired pizza restaurants in New York, with pizzas designed using the methods of Naples, birthplace of the world’s best pizzas, but differentiated by authentic shared plates in the tradition of the ” “Italian treats. Italian version of tapas). Chef Chris and partner Mark recently returned from a “research trip” to southern Italy to inspire Allegretto’s menu,” reads the description on the Indiegogo site.

The proposal of the new restaurant is to serve pizzas accompanied by bread, roasted meats and fish, grilled vegetables, salads, marinades and cured meats with craft beers, wines and seasonal cocktails, uniting the two restaurants, as the ownership of the new development is forthcoming brings.

“We will transfer the roasts from the two restaurants to Allegretto and all the cuts [de carne] for Francie. But it will be more fun to get a duck leg at Francie’s and make a duck and cured meat pizza at Allegretto’s,” Winterman said.

To facilitate this connection, an entrance has already been created from the Francie corridor to the external courtyard of Allegretto.

Anyone who decides to contribute to the effort will have priority in booking and a drink on their birthday. Additionally, those who contribute more than $10,000 will also have their portraits included in the mural painted on the ceiling. Gift vouchers will also be valid for meals at Francie.

The opening of the new restaurant will be celebrated with a party to which investors will be invited with free food and drinks.
